It has been a long time coming, but Camila Cabello has finally released the second music video from her upcoming solo debut album The Hurting. The Healing. The Loving. with the sexy and infectious “Havana.”
Going back to her Cuban roots, the new music video, directed by Dave Meyers, has all the Cuban flavor we could ask for. There’s an ode to Telenovelas, a dramatic older sister, a concerned Abuela, lots of beautiful scenery, vintage cars, a smoky nightclub, a meet-cute moment, and a whole lotta dancing. Caliente indeed.
Cabello shows off both her acting and dancing in “Havana,” playing a couch potato soap opera fan for half of the video and a movie star on the big screen for the other scenes. While the starlet doesn’t get her happy ending, she does inspire her shier alter ego to go out into the night and find her own prince charming.
Cabello’s “Havana” partner Young Thug also appears in the video as a singer in a nightclub, although he leaves all the dancing up to Camila.
The video is full of fun tongue in cheek moments, but Cabello takes a serious turn in the credits when she dedicates “Havana” to the “Dreamers,” the name given to young Americans who immigrated to the United States as children and were given documentation—something that is currently being threatened by President Trump.
Cabello, who jokingly rated the video IFH for “It’s Finally Here,” has been teasing the video for a few days on her Instagram account, but now you can watch “Havana” below in full.
