Camila Cabello is “miss moving on” with her solo career post-Fifth Harmony, by staying busy promoting her 2016 duet “Bad Things” with rapper Machine Gun Kelly. The pair performed on The Ellen DeGeneres Show earlier this week, marking Cabello’s first televised performance as a solo artist since announcing her departure from the X Factor girl group in December.
Now, Cabello and MGK have traveled across the pond to not only remix their own single, but also deliver a surprising cover.
The pair performed in the famous BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge this week, slowing down their track “Bad Things” and throwing in some string instruments to give the pop song more depth and emotion.
As with all Live Lounge performances, the pair also performed a cover song, taking on James Arthur’s 2016 single “Say You Won’t Let Go.” The X Factor winner’s original song is free from any rapping, so MGK not only lent a few rap verses to the sweet ballad, but also opened the song by singing. FYI, Machine Gun Kelly can really sing.
Cabello and MGK turned the solo track into a romantic duet, again enlisting a string section to deliver a cover that we may like even more than the original—and that’s saying a lot.
As for James Arthur, he too recently stopped by the Live Lounge to perform “Say You Won’t Let Go” as well as a cover of fellow English singer-songwriter Emeli Sande’s “Hurts.”
Former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello is no stranger to the Live Lounge. She’s not only previously performed in the UK studio with her former band mates, but Fifth Harmony has also received the cover treatment thanks to an amazing Broadway-esque redo from The Vamps and their cover of the 2016 single “That’s My Girl.”
