Put your hips on high alert—they are about to start moving. Former Fifth Harmony member Camila Cabello is honouring her Cuban heritage with a new Spanish song “Hey Ma” for the upcoming The Fate of the Furious soundtrack, and she’s brought some friends along for the ride.
Hitting the studio with Pitbull and J Balvin, “Hey Ma” marks Cabello’s first major song in Spanish and her first piece of new music since leaving Fifth Harmony in December.
Cabello, who was born in Cuba and went back and forth between Havana and Mexico City before settling in Miami, teamed up with Cuban-American pop star and fellow Miami native Pitbull, as well as and Colombian singer J Balvin, for the muy caliente single “Hey Ma” that acts as a nod to the trio’s roots.
The three popstars released the music video for “Hey Ma” today and have us dreaming of warm weather and hot cars. Cabello and J Balvin hang out with friends and play dominoes before joining Mr. 305 and his entourage of beautiful women for a street party. What’s the Spanish translation of ‘Where’s my passport?’
Part of The Fate of the Furious was filmed in Cuba, with scenes from the upcoming film spliced into the music video. While it looks as though the three singers are also in Cuba, “Hey Ma” was shot on Miami’s historical Española Way in South Beach due to scheduling conflicts. Either way, we’re ready to join the fiesta.
The English version of “Hey Ma” and its accompanying music video are set to be released on April 14, the same day The Fate of the Furious hits theatres. Check out the trailer for The Fate of the Furious here.
