Carly Rae Jepsen Returns With ‘No Drug Like Me’ And ‘Now That I Found You’

Carly Rae Jepsen

Carly Rae Jepsen has just dropped two new songs and officially made Wednesday our favourite day of the week. The pop star has been releasing teaser clips for the past week after announcing her new single “Now That I Found You” in the new promo for the upcoming season of Queer Eye. Jepsen surprised her loyal fanbase with the added bonus of a second song with “No Drug Like Me,” releasing both tracks on February 27. Jepsen has still yet to announce a date for her highly anticipated follow-up to 2015’s Emotion, but we mustn’t dwell. No, not today. We can’t. Not on CRJ day.

The new singles are Jepsen’s first since dropping “Party For One” in November 2018, which marked the first single from Jepsen’s upcoming fourth studio album and the first taste of music since her huge 2017 track “Cut To The Feeling.” The new pair of tracks are in line with her previous work on the brilliant dark pop/electro album Emotion, with Jepsen telling Beat 1 host Zane Lowe that the two songs are a celebration of love.

“’Now That I Found You’ is about the high you get when a new love starts to change your life. It’s like the rush, rush, rush is better than any drug,” says Jepsen. “Which leads me to ‘No Drug Like Me,’ which is a promise I made to love in general. That when the good stuff lands my way I’ll always try to be vulnerable and brave and show all of myself. ‘If you make me feel in love then I’ll blossom for you.’”

Jepsen teamed up with her “Party For One” co-writers Captain Cuts on “Now That I Found You,” while “No Drug Like Me” was produced by John Hill and Jordan Palmer, who has previously worked with fellow Canadian pop singer Lights.

Jepsen shared a clip on Twitter that appears to be scenes from music videos for the two new songs. Again, the singer hasn’t confirmed any dates for an album or video, but again, we shall not dwell. Thank goodness for CRJ-day.
