When news first broke that John Legend and Ariana Grande were re-recording Celine Dion and Peabo Bryson’s Oscar-winning theme song from Beauty and the Beast, we were excited to hear the new version, but admittedly a little sad that Dion’s soaring vocals wouldn’t be present on the new soundtrack. Thankfully, this Disney fairytale has a happy ending.
Dion returned to the studio to record a new track for the upcoming live action remake of Beauty and the Beast and now the original ballad is here. No surprise, it’s breathtaking.
“How Does A Moment Last Forever” reunites Dion with composer Alan Menken, who worked on the 1991 Academy Award winning-soundtrack. The sweet and loving song provides a vehicle for Dion to give an understated, but still beautifully delivered performance.
In addition to Dion, Dan Stevens, who plays the Beast, and singer Josh Groban have both recorded the new track “Evermore” for the upcoming film.
The soundtrack for Beauty and the Beast dropped on March 10, but we’re still a few days away from the film’s March 17 opening in theatres. Ahead of the film’s release, Disney has released snippets of star Emma Watson singing as Belle, as well as Luke Evans and Josh Gad performing as Gaston and LeFou.
Disney also released the new music video starring Ariana Grande and John Legend in their remake of the famous “Beauty and the Beast” theme song. In the video, the two powerhouse vocalists perform their new version of the theme song in the Beast’s ballroom as Watson and Stevens dance nearby in costume. Is it March 17 yet?
