Chance The Rapper Confirms Two Upcoming Albums

It’s been two years since Chance The Rapper dropped his life-changing mixtape, Coloring Book. Since then, we’ve only heard Chance  feature on a few songs (that is, if you don’t count his re-released 2016 Christmas mixtape with Jeremih). Being the greedy souls we are, we’re not afraid to admit that it’s time for some new music and thankfully, the Chicago rapper seems to have heard our prayers.

Recently, Chance sat down with Peter Rosenberg on the latest instalment of Complex’s show, Open Late with Peter Rosenberg to give fans some insight on not one but two of his upcoming albums.

“I’m in dry erase board mode,” said Chance, “I’m organizing…what’s cool is Ye’s kind of got me in a mode of understanding your ability to multitask and work on different things.”

According to Chance, he’s got a lot of unreleased songs under his belt and projects with Childish Gambino (AKA Donald Glover) and Kanye West.

“I’m going to do a seven-track with Ye,” Chance confirmed to Rosenberg.

Last week, The New York Times released that Kanye West aims to make “52 records in 52 weeks.” So, it’s not surprising that Chance, who has never been one to shy away from his admiration for Kanye, will be joining the likes of Pusha T, Kid Cudi, Nas, and Teyana Taylor with a Kanye-produced album.

As for his Childish Gambino collaboration, Chance revealed the projected length of the album.

“We’ve got six songs that are all fire, but I think the album is going to be more than 14 songs,” he said.

We haven’t heard the pair on a song together since 2013, so we think it’s safe to say that we’ll take all the fire songs they can throw at us.

“Kanye is my favourite rapper that I followed without knowing [personally] for a long time, and Donald Glover was the first rapper who was like, ‘Come on tour’ with me.” Chance reflected to Rosenberg. “Those are dudes that like…I want to do everything, I want to work on as many things are possible.”

According to Chance, he’s about 30 per cent finished everything he’s currently working on. Though Chance and Kanye are expected to really start working on their album this month and there’s no specific release date for the Gambino-Chance project, we’re still crossing our fingers that Chance will surprise us with a song of the summer single. Like we said, it’s about time for some new music.
