Charli XCX is here to help you with some material for your fantasies. The British singer and songwriter has just dropped her latest track with the slow burning Boys. The track is accentuated with videogame beeps, as Charli lists all of the events she’s missed because she was busy dreaming about boys.
The earworm clocks in at under three minutes, but Charli manages to pack more celebs into her video than a red carpet. Riz Ahmed, Stormzy, Dolla $ign, Vampire Weekend’s Ezra Koenig, Charlie Puth, Bring Me the Horizon’s Oliver Sykes, Chromeo, Flume, G Eazy, Joey Badass, Kaytranada, Portugal. the Man, The Libertines, Panic at the Disco’s Brendan Urie, Jack Antonoff, Rostam Batmanglij, Mark Ronson, Mac DeMarco, Wiz Khalifa, Will.i.am, Joe Jonas, Diplo, Khalid, Tom Daley, Cameron Dallas and more appear in “Boys,” making it one of the must-see videos of the year.
Flipping the male gaze, the video shows the famous men posing in front of various screens of pink and white while engaging in a number of fantasy-like behaviors, including lifting weights, jumping around in a pool, looking cool with a chainsaw, and laying in a pile of roses.
The video closes with some behind-the-scenes shots of Charli and her incredible lineup of stars while making the video for “Boys.”
Charli shared some of her early ideas for the video, which she directs and appears in near the end sporting a fake mustache. Posting on her Instagram page, Charli uploaded notes on her A-list cast and what she wanted them to be doing in the video, including Joe Jonas eating pancakes and Diplo and Khalid playing with puppies. Some boys get to have all the fun.
“Boys” is part of Charli XCX’s upcoming third studio album, which is set to be released sometime in 2018. The multi-talented writer and performer dropped her mixtape Number 1 Angel in March.
