Charli XCX And Diplo Pay Homage To The Spice Girls on New Herve Pagez Track

What better way to celebrate the Spice Girls’ return to the 2019 touring scene than with a tribute track? Charli XCX was certainly with us on this one, as she recently teamed up with French dance producer Herve Pagez and Diplo to rework the iconic 1996 “Wannabe.”

The new cover track “Spicy” dropped today alongside an ultra-vibrant dolphin-filled, 2000s space-themed (whew, we never thought we’d ever say those words together) music video. Although this isn’t the first time this year Charli XCX and Diplo have collaborated with other artists, it is the first time Charli XCX has lent her vocal talent to the American DJ’s song. The EDM-heavy “Spicy” does away with the familiar hook of the OG Spice Girls favourite, but the risqué move pays off as it allows the track to take on a refreshing life of its own. Check it out below and let us know what you think.

Could this be the 2019 summer hit? The jury’s still out on that one, but it’s definitely a summer bop that sets the mood for some fun under the sun.
