Chloë Grace Moretz Battles Through Gay Conversion Therapy In ‘Miseducation Of Cameron Post’ Trailer

Adding to her growing list of feature films, Chloë Grace Moretz stars in the highly acclaimed Sundance film, The Miseducation of Cameron Post.

Directed by Desiree Akhavan and based off of the novel by the same name, The Miseducation of Cameron Post follows Cameron, a girl who is sent to a homosexual conversion therapy camp after she is caught making out with a female classmate. Though the religious camp is meant to “cure” her sexuality, Cameron is ultimately lead down a path of self-discovery when she is introduced to a gay community for the first time.

“I knew that I wanted to write a coming of age novel. Then I came across this Zach Stark controversy.” Emily M. Danforth, author of Cameron Post said during an interview with Slate in 2012.

“Zach Stark was a 16-year-old who posted on his MySpace wall that he was being sent to a de-gaying camp, which is how he put it, by his parents, and then he posted the rules of this particular facility and what kind of clothing he could wear, what kind of music he was allowed to bring, those sorts of things…There was a postcard campaign to get [the camp] shut down”

Set in 1993 America, The Miseducation of Cameron Post is bound to offer lessons on homophobia, acceptance, and morality. Check out the full-length trailer below and mark your calendar. The Miseducation of Cameron Post enters select theatres on August 3.
