Christina Aguilera Hints At New Album ‘Liberation’

Fans have been waiting for a new album from Christina Aguilera for years, and it might finally be coming soon.

The iconic singer teased her new album during a concert in Azerbaijan over the weekend. During a short interlude, the 37-year-old singer played a video that hinted at a new studio album titled, Liberation.

The video shows a variety of shots of the singer while she lists a series of words beginning with “ex.” Aguilera says in the video, “My existence has no expiration. This is my liberation. This is our liberation. Be liberated with me. It’s time for liberation. As one, a liberated nation.” The video ends with the words “Xtina, liberation” repeated several times.

The artist has yet to reveal any other information or material from the upcoming record, but Liberation will mark Xtina’s first album in six years, following 2012’s Lotus, which included the singles “Your Body” and “Just a Fool,” featuring Blake Shelton.

Rumours circulated earlier this year, when Aguilera promised her fans new music was coming. The pop superstar responded to eager fans on social media who have asked when new music would be released with an Instagram Story captioned “It’s coming bitches…” followed by several emojis.

Although she hasn’t put out a full album since 2012, there have been singles. In 2013, Xtina was featured on Pitbull’s “Feel This Moment” and A Great Big World‘s “Say Something.” That same year, Aguilera also recorded “We Remain” for The Hunger Games: Catching Fire soundtrack. She also appeared on a remix version of Lady Gaga’s 2013 single “Do What U Want and in June 2016, Aguilera released “Change”—a song dedicated to the late Christina Grimmie and the victims of the Orlando nightclub shooting.

Aguilera made her return to the spotlight earlier this year on the cover of PAPER Magazine’s April issue, looking fresh faced with little makeup and detailing her music hiatus to focus on her family and personal life. Aguilera also plans to head back to the big screen this year with sci-fi flick Zoe , her first major acting role since staring alongside Cher in the 2010 musical BurlesqueLast week, Aguilera joined The Late Late Show’s James Corden for a new episode of Carpool Karaoke where she dished on her Mickey Mouse Clubhouse days and sang some of her classic tracks like “Fighter” and “Genie In A Bottle.”

We have the comeback interview, the comeback movie role, and the Carpool Karaoke appearance. Now it’s about time for that comeback album.
