Scottish fans of Paramore were treated to a special guest appearance by one of their own this past weekend. While performing in Edinburgh, Scotland, Paramore continued their tradition of inviting a fan onstage to perform the band’s huge 2007 single “Misery Business” with front woman Hayley Williams.
This time around, the band not only invited a fan from the audience, but also one hanging out backstage. Scottish singer Lauren Mayberry of the band Chvrches hit the stage with Paramore to perform the Riot! track and surprise her hometown crowd.
This weekend’s performance marks the latest in a long friendship between the two bands. In 2016, the Scottish trio teamed up with Paramore frontwoman Hayley Williams for a remix of their track, “Bury It,” later releasing animated music video that let the foursome live out their fantasy of being cartoon crusaders. The song was featured on the extended version of Chvrches sophomore album Every Open Eye.
Chvrches also performed as part of Paramore’s 2016 annual Parahoy! cruise along with New Found Glory, with Williams married to the pop punk band’s lead guitarist Chad Gilbert.
Paramore announced their fifth album in April with the lead single “Hard Times.” Dropping in full on May 12, After Laughter features the return of founding member Zac Farro.
The band has been busy touring through Europe in support of the new disc and recently dropped their second single “Told You So.” Paramore are set to continue their tour stateside this fall, with shows in Montreal on October 12 and Toronto on October 13.
