Do Avril Lavigne And Nick Carter Have The Weirdest, Best Collab Of The Year?

Avril Nick Main

Few artists can provide an instant time travel trip to high school like Avril Lavigne and Nick Carter. The singers were two of the biggest pop stars of the late ’90s and early 2000s, with Lavigne ruling the feminist pop movement as a solo artist and Carter playing the role of ‘young heartbreaker’ in The Backstreet Boys.

Neither artist have seen much action on the charts as of late, though Lavigne was back in the headlines earlier this year with the news of her divorce from Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger and her battle with lyme disease. For his part, Carter enjoyed a year of positive press thanks to his recent stint on Dancing With The Stars.

Now the two are teaming up in surprising collaboration that actually really works. Who knew they were even friends?!

Carter and Lavigne are in fine ’90s form with Get Over Me, a song that could have been a release in 1998 by Blink 182. Singing about hooking up with a new fling that becomes obsessed with them (is it 1998 again?), the duo sing “First time, it was amazing / Two times, you acting crazy / Three times, you want my baby”.

Get Over Me is part of Carter’s latest solo effort All American and features the new duet with the all Canadian Avril Lavigne. Like, seriously guys, it’s really good!
