She’s one of the most exciting new artists of 2015 and now she can list Taylor Swift as one of her biggest fans.
Brampton, Ontario native Alessia Cara threw a lightning bolt into the music scene with her song Here this past April and now the 18-year-old is covering Swift’s latest single Bad Blood.
Cara performed the revamped cover, including Kendrick Lamar’s fast-paced and melodic rap, while appearing on BBC’s Radio 1. The cover quickly gained the attention of Swift, who tweeted her praise for the young Canadian.

Swift’s Bad Blood feels like the perfect choice for Cara, with both young women gaining an audience through lyrics that offer an alternative to the praising of hard-partying and excess that makes up most Top 40 pop songs.
Alessia also performed an incredible stripped down version of her debut single Here while on BBC Radio 1, showing off her smooth vocals and music sensibility.
