Drake Drops ‘Summer Sixteen’ And Reveals Release Date For ‘Views From The 6’

Summer Sixteen

It may be the first day of February, but things are finally starting to heat in Canada. On his most recent episode of OVO Sound Radio, Drake dropped his next single Summer Sixteen.

The low key track, which is lacking in beats but proficient in flows, showcases Drake dusting off his boxing gloves and heading back into the ring with rapper Meek Mill. For his part, Meek has responded with War Pain, saying that Drake’s ‘ghostwriter’ gave him a heads up on Summer Sixteen and name checked Drake’s huge 2015 hit Hotline Bling. If you’re going to come after Drizzy, maybe don’t talk about him having the biggest hit of the year, mmmkay?

Summer Sixteen’s lyrics also include Drake rapping about Chris Brown and his dancing skills, Jimi Hendrix and his guitar solos, and Kanye West and his pool, which is smaller than Drake’s. Like, it’s a big pool, just not as big as Drake’s, a fact pointed out at the end of the track by the ever-helpful DJ Khaled.

In addition to the new single, Drake also revealed that his album Views From The 6 will be released this April. That’s April 2016, or 4/16, or if you’re calling from Toronto, (416). Well played, Drizzy.
