Dua Lipa Gets By With A Little Help From Her Friends In ‘New Rules’ Video

Dua Lipa knows that one of the hardest parts of a breakup is not going back to your ex. The singer takes on the topic of dealing with forgiving an ex not worthy of forgiveness in her latest music video, “New Rules.”

Enlisting the help of her friends, Dua is supported by a group of women who encourage the singer to not go back to her ex. Shot in a Miami hotel, the women are pretty in pastel, wearing coordinated bathrobes and pajamas while showing off their choreography that includes hair brushing, make-up application, and a number of fancy moves geared towards stopping Dua from picking up the phone and reconnecting with her ex.

The video moves from the hotel room to the hotel pool, where a clear platform is used for some visual trickery that makes Dua appear to be walking on water. The singer ends the video by swapping roles with one of the other women and helping her friend say ‘no’ to an ex.

Director Henry Schofield was behind the camera for the stylish and summery “New Rules,” with Lipa and Schofield having previously worked together on the singer’s music video for “Lost In Your Light.”

British singer Lipa describes “New Rules” as “the breakup song I wish I had when I was breaking up with someone. I think it’s something everyone can relate to.”

“New Rules” is seventh single Lipa has released from her 2017 self-titled debut album. The British singer has just been announced as the opening act for Bruno Mars’ 24K Magic World Tour for the September dates.
