Our favourite single Brit is back and this time she’s having a baby. The first trailer for Bridget Jones’s Baby debuted online this morning and reunites Renee Zellweger’s Bridget Jones and Colin Firth’s Mark Darcy, with the on-again-off-again couple firmly in the ‘off’ position.
The trailer doesn’t explain why the couple, who were together for both endings of the first two films, are no longer sharing a bag of crisps, but we have a feeling this break will be short lived. At least that’s what we hope for. He likes her just the way she is!
The third film in the series, which is set to deliver into theaters on September 16, features Grey’s Anatomy hunk Patrick Dempsey as Jack Qwant, the ‘other man’ replacement for Hugh Grant’s Daniel Cleaver.
According to the trailer, Bridget has found success as a TV producer and a single woman, taking high energy spin classes and hanging out backstage with a less than impressed Ed Sheeran. But when she unexpectedly becomes pregnant, Bridget is unsure whether the father is Darcy or Qwant. It really seems like a win-win scenario to us.
The two minutes of footage looks promising and is hopefully representative of a film that can remove the bad taste left by 2004’s Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason. If this new movie works out, maybe there’s even hope for a third and watchable Sex and the City flick.
Bridget Jones’s Baby hits theaters on September 16.
