Ed Sheeran started 2017 off announcing new music, and we couldn’t be more excited. The British singer has been on a social media hiatus for the past year, but has returned to the public eye and promises new music on Friday, January 6.
Sheeran made the announcement on his Instagram page, posting a silent video of himself holding a piece of paper that reads ‘New music coming Friday!!’. While no other details were released, we made a few educated guesses on what could possibly be in store for Sheeran’s millions of fans.
Now Sheeran is giving us more clues about what to expect with tomorrow’s release, including lyrics, audio and a possible album title.
Following his first announcement, Sheeran posted a video revealing a division sign. His previous albums were titled + and x, so naming his third album ÷ is definitely on brand.
Using the same blue background, Sheeran also dropped two more silent Instagram videos with possible lyrics, writing, “When I was six years old I broke my leg” and, “The club isn’t the best place to find a lover.”
Now, Sheeran has released two audio clips, which sound like two different songs. Does this mean tomorrow’s new music debut could include not one, but two songs? Oh Ed, we’ve missed you.
