Ed Sheeran’s return to music in 2017 has already included a new album name (Divide), two fresh tracks (“Cast On The Hill” and “Shape of You”) and now a brand new track listing.
Sheeran announced his upcoming third studio album Divide earlier this month, his first since 2014’s Multiply, continuing with his play on mathematical symbols. Divide’s release date has yet to be announced, but today Sheeran dropped the album’s track listing on Instagram.
The new album will feature 12 tracks in total, including “Castle On The Hill” and “Shape of You,” which were both released last Friday, quickly breaking Spotify’s record for most streamed singles in one day.
The track listing doesn’t show any guest appearances on the album, a move that is typical of Sheeran who tends to pop up on other people’s albums instead of featuring them on his own.
During an interview earlier this week with Ryan Seacrest, Sheeran shot down rumours that Divide will be arriving in January, but did promise that the record would be out “very soon.” The singer also confirmed that he will be releasing more songs from Divide prior to the album drop.
Sheeran’s 2017 will not only include a new album, but also his first appearance on Carpool Karaoke. Sheeran revealed in an interview with Capital FM this week that he will be shooting his first appearance on Carpool Karaoke sometime in 2017, but don’t expect to hear the British singer performing many of his own songs. “I know the whole thing is singing to you’re own tune, but I think I’d feel a bit awkward,” says Sheeran. “I think I just want to put on some Biggie.”
