Emma Stone Shows Off Her Singing Skills In New Trailer For ‘La La Land’

Audition Emma Stone

Back in July, we were pleasantly surprised to hear Stone sing Robyn’s “Call Your Girlfriend” with Maya Rudolph on the Maya and Marty Show. Thankfully, Stone isn’t letting those vocals going to waste. The actress’ latest role is for a musical that will see her reunite with Ryan Gosling. So, yeah, we’ve bought our tickets.

The two actors have previously starred opposite one another in Crazy, Stupid, Love and Gangster Squad and will again being playing love interests in the new film from Damien Chazelle (Whiplash).

Looking like a cross between every Wes Anderson film and West Side Story, La La Land follows Mia (Stone), an aspiring actress, who falls in love with Jazz musician Sebastian (Gosling). The two LA residents try to make their relationship work while living in a city that can be cruel to budding entertainers.

While we weren’t surprised to see Gosling cast in a musical (he fronts the band Dead Man’s Bones and sang in Blue Valentine), this is one of the first times Stone will sing on screen. Judging by today’s new trailer, it’s about time she did.

This is the second trailer for La La Land and looks just as dreamy as the first, although this time around we get to hear Stone sing “Audition,” an original song from the soundtrack that reminds us of “The Rainbow Connection.” Like we said, it’s all very dreamy.

La La Land, which also stars John Legend and Rosemarie DeWitt, is set to float into theatres this December.
