It’s been six years since singer-songwriter Feist released her critically acclaimed album Metals. Since then, the Canadian musician has popped up a handful of times with different projects. She appeared in the film The Muppets and wrote “Fire In The Water” for the 2012 soundtrack for The Twilight Saga – Breaking Dawn Part Two. In 2013, Feist along with Broken Social Scene played the inaugural Field Trip Music Festival to celebrate the tenth anniversary of record label Arts and Crafts.
Now Feist has confirmed that she is indeed preparing to release her first new album since 2011 with the upcoming disc Pleasure. Set to be released on April 28, Pleasure is produced by Feist along with Mocky and Renaud Letang.
The singer was just announced as one of the headliners for Field Trip Festival, which also features A Tribe Called Red and Phoenix. Canadian indie super-group Broken Social Scene will also be returning to headline, with Feist appearing on the band’s upcoming album. Field Trip takes place in downtown Toronto at Fort York and Garrison Common on June 3 and 4.
In addition to the festival, Feist has added more tour dates to her summer schedule, including the Eaux Claires Festival in Wisconsin and the Winnipeg Folk Festival in Manitoba.
While Feist has released the tracklist for Pleasure, she has yet to debut any new music for the album. Her official site still features her 2012 heavy metal duet with Mastodon, as well as a beautiful acoustic cover of The Tragically Hip’s “Flamenco,” recorded in 2016 following the news that lead singer Gord Downie has been diagnosed with brain cancer.
The Calgary native, real name Leslie Feist, has been nominated for four Grammy awards and taken home 11 JUNO Awards, including album of the year in 2007 for The Reminder.
