Fight The Stigma! Our Favourite Amazing and Cool Cat Ladies

Wed, October, 29 by

Today is National Cat Day! As a cat lover this makes me very excited but am I the only one that feels like it was just Cat Day? It seems like there is a Cat Day every day. Maybe that was Community Cat Day or Workplace Cat Day or Known Universe Cat Day.

But why am I question it? Let us just celebrate. And how should we celebrate? By recognising some of the people who give cat ladies a good name and the furry babies they love. Here are our favourite amazing and cool cat ladies that challenge the negative cat lady stigma.

Taylor Swift’s Meredith & Olivia Benson

These two cats are potentially the most famous cats in the world right now. If not the most photographed. Meredith is Taylor’s first cat and is named after Meredith Grey from Grey’s Anatomy and Olivia is her second cat, named after Olivia Benson from Law & Order: SVU. Taylor likes her network TV heroines. The Olivia was recently the subject of a HUGE (HUGE I SAY) controversy after legendary comedian John Cleese questioned whether she was a proper cat. It was quite hilarious.

Taylor also carries Olivia around on the street. She was also very thrilled when we gifted her with a unicorn horn for her babies in Much Presents: Taylor Swift.

Kesha’s Prince Charlie

Kesha has a three cats, Mr. Peeps, Mr. Fluffy Pant$ and Prince Charlie. They are all super cute. She is sometimes seen carrying them out and about like the time she was carrying Prince Charlie in the airport, pictured above. Gosh that is an adorable cat. She also has a dog, Bacon Sebert, but who cares about that.

She told E! News earlier this year that she wants to start a cat cult. “So I’m going to start a cult and people can be in it if they like to be cats or play with cats or play with cat toys,” she told them. But, to get in you have to eat glitter mixed with cat litter. Maybe worth it?

Katy Perry’s Kitty Purry

Kitty Purry is the veteran of the celebrity cat world. She has been around for a while although I did notice Katy hasn’t posted as many pictures of her recently. She also has another cat named Monkey. In her past tours Katy has even had a human sized purple furry version of Kitty Purry on stage with her. To take a passage from the Katy Perry Wiki site, “Kitty is another term for a cat and purry is a reference made to the noise a cat makes.” Um, duh. Kitty appeared in the video for “I Kissed A Girl” and is considered Katy’s mascot. Rumour has it she holds support groups to offer her wisdom to new famous kittens about handling fame.

Dolly Parton and a cat

It isn’t really clear what cat this is or if she is even Dolly’s but this pictures is just so great I couldn’t not add it to the list. So camp. So adorable.

Dita Von Teese’s Aleister Von Teese

Dita Von Teese’s cat Aleister is my favourite cat on this list. He is just as glamourous as his owner, fashionista and burlesque dancer Dita. He even has his own very active Instagram account with 30,000 followers which I highly recommend you follow. What makes Aleister special, besides the fact that I have to double check the spelling of his name every time I type it, is that he is a Devon Rex. They have the look of a hairless cat but with a curly coat. They are highly intelligent and can recognise their owner’s name as well as their own. I love, Devons. Aleister has very expensive taste travelling in Dita’s Louis Vuitton bag and napping on her Mugler suit.
