The 2018 Golden Globe Nominations Are In And Young Hollywood Is Having A Moment

The 2018 Golden Globe nominations were announced today and while some of our favourites from this year were snubbed, a number of young stars earned their well-deserved first nominations.

While we were bummed to not see any nominations for The Big Sick and shut outs for Best Director and Best Screenplay nominations for Lady Bird and Get Out directors Greta Gerwig and Jordan Peele, the movies’ stars Saoirse Ronan and Daniel Kaluuya earned Best Actress and Best Actor nods for their work.

Actor turned DJ turned back to actor Ansel Elgort earned his first Golden Globe nomination thanks to his role as the silent by deadly driver in Edgar Wright’s Baby Driver.

No surprise here, Timothée Chalamet earned a Best Actor in a Drama nomination for his role in the stunning Call Me By Your Name, with the 21-year-old actor facing off against Hollywood A-listers Daniel Day-Lewis, Tom Hanks, Gary Oldman and Denzel Washington.

On the TV side, Selena Gomez’s passion project 13 Reasons Why was honoured with a Best Actress nomination for its star, Australian actress Katherine Langford. The 21-year-old was recognized for her emotional performance of a teenager who commits suicide after being bullied by her classmates.

Emma Stone and Margot Robbie earned Best Actress nominations for their roles in Battle of the Sexes and I, Tonya, while on the TV side, Shailene Woodley was nominated for Best Supporting Actress for her work in Big Little Lies.
