The BBC Radio 1 Live Lounge allows artists to do unique and unexpected covers that always surprise their fans. It was Halsey’s turn to do that on June 6 when she turned the Jonas Brothers’ “Sucker” into a seductive, jazzy tune.
The “Nightmare” singer was vibing as she alternated between sultry crooning and gritty growling during the song’s duration, completely making it her own.
The Jonas Brothers, who performed “Sucker” in the Live Lounge just last week, only had positive words for Halsey as they thanked her, calling it “amazing” and “incredible” in a video. They also tweeted “That #Sucker cover on @BBCR1 was so sick. We love you!!”
Halsey was clearly excited as she responded with “I love you guys too!!!!! And I love this song! Thank you!!!!!!!!”

Halsey also performed a slowed-down, ballad version of her latest single “Nightmare,” which was just as emotionally powerful as the original version. Slay, girl. Slayyy.
This cover comes at a perfect time as the JoBros just happened to release their fifth studio album, Happiness Begins, the very next day (Jun 7). Along with previously released singles “Sucker” and “Cool,” the record includes 12 new tracks, all of which are bops.
Each of the brothers posted to social media to share their feelings of the release, including some vintage videos of the band in the tweets to show how their appreciation and excitement hasn’t changed since their last studio album came out in 2009.
The Jonas Brothers are about to embark on a six month, two-legged tour and will be making three (!!!) stops in Toronto, one stop in Vancouver, and one in Montreal. Get tickets here.
Although Halsey isn’t touring this summer, you can catch her at Capital’s Summertime Ball 2019 this weekend, along with appearances at Woodstock 50 on August 18 and iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas on September 20.
