31 Days Of Holiday Awesome: Cheap And Easy Holiday Decor DIYs For Small Spaces

Just because your living space is small doesn’t mean you can’t get in the holiday spirit—you don’t need a huge Home Alone-esque house or a lot of money to have a well decorated home. Some things are obviously cheap buys, like string lights and wreaths, but creative DIYs are not out of the question for those of us with just a few bucks to spare on decor.  Have you tried incorporating what you already have to make decorations? If so, we rounded up these easy and inexpensive decor DIYs from around the web.

Glass Candle Holders And Centrepieces

(Wineglass candles, berry bottles)

These candle holders can be the perfect centrepiece for any potluck dinner you’re hosting this season. Using simple housewares you likely already have, class up any table set with these simple decorations. Add tinsel or garland for an even more festivity! Head here for the full instructions.

What you already have:

• Wine glasses (because they make that $8 wine taste like it was at least $14)
• Candles

What you’ll need:

• Small ornaments in your choice of colours and shapes
• Small candles
• Glue gun

Put the (embarrassingly big) pile of  empty bottles lying around your place to work! Decorate a side table or mantle with these simple and rustic touches. Stick berry branches or other clippings into clean bottles. Decorate with twine for the full Pinterest experience.

What you already have:

• Empty glass bottles (because recycling can wait)

What you’ll need:

• Berry branches or evergreen clippings

Festive Banners

Sassy banners have been taking over our feeds for years—so we recommend you festivize the trend with a catchy phrase (we suggest “We Pop Champagne When We Thirsty,” or anything that plays on the word “sleigh”). Cut or print the letters out and string them on twine or ribbon. Make the banner more personal by adding your favourite holiday images. Add Christmas oomph to any corner of  your space that needs it.

What you already have:

• Photos
• Cardstock or construction paper

What you’ll need:

• Twine or ribbon in festive colours
• Tape or paper clips

Makeshift Christmas Trees

(String tree, books tree, ladder tree)

You can basically make a tree out of anything, so long as your materials take on a triangle shape. Check out this list for even more ideas. A little bit of time and effort is all it takes to make your place look festive and inviting.

What you already have:

• Piles of textbooks and novels
• Washi tape (because it’s just so dang cute)
• Assorted knick-knacks
• String lights

What you’ll need:

• Tape
• Ornaments
