It’s been a somber few days since the world learned that The Tragically Hip’s formidable frontman Gord Downie had passed away following a brave battle with brain cancer.
To pay tribute to the Canadian hero, CTV will premiere the acclaimed documentary Long Time Running tonight.
From award-winning directors Jennifer Baichwal and Nicholas De Pencier, Long Time Running was shot during The Tragically Hip’s iconic 2016 Man Machine Poem tour and emotional final concert in their hometown of Kingston. Through interviews, performances, behind-the-scenes footage, fan testimonials and so much more, audiences will be given an intimate glimpse into the world of one of Canada’s most beloved bands, and Downie’s courageous final year.
Watch the 95-minute film tonight as it airs commercial-free on CTV at 8 ET/MT.
In addition to the CTV broadcast, the film will be available as a free live stream on CTV.ca at 8 ET/MT.
You can also watch the free live stream in the CTV GO app on your mobile devices and tablets, beginning at 8 ET/MT tonight.
Immediately following the Long Time Running broadcast, CTV will present Courage | In Memory of Gord, a 20-minute tribute piece that will include archived Much interviews with Gord Downie and The Tragically Hip from the past 25 years. The special will also stream on CTV.ca and in the CTV GO app.
