In the spring of 1984, Jon Bon Jovi and his bandmates had just released their first album, and the debut single ‘Runaway’ barely cracked the Top 40. The band was playing at the legendary El Mocambo in Toronto, where the Stones had recorded a live album, and a crowd (if you can call it that) of about 20 people had attended. While in town, the band visited City Limits (the all-night video show that led to MuchMusic), and when they showed up, they learn MuchMusic couldn’t find the video for ‘Runaway,’ which they might have lost in the recent move to the MuchMusic building.
In 1984, Christopher Ward helped launch Muchmusic as Canada's first VJ. A former Second City Touring Company member and acclaimed songwriter, Ward has written for Diana Ross, Hilary Duff, The Backstreet Boys and many others. Ward received the 1990 Songwriter of the Year JUNO Award for Alannah Myles’ hit, "Black Velvet".
