Jessie Reyez Is Easy To Watch In Calvin Harris’ Video For ‘Hard To Love’

On Calvin Harris’ latest single “Feels,” the DJ enlisted some of the biggest names in pop and hip hop, including Katy Perry, Big Sean and Pharrell, to release a breezy, summery collaboration tune. In his latest single “Hard To Love,” all he needed was Toronto newcomer Jessie Reyez.

In “Hard To Love,” Reyez lists her best and worst qualities while searching out a mate that will be worthy of her good days by standing by her on her bad ones. As the final book end track on Harris’ 2017 album Funk Wav Bounce Vol. 1, “Hard To Love” is one of two songs on the star-studded album that’s carried by only one vocalists. While we love a good collaboration, we also appreciate that Harris knows what Reyez’s fan base has been aware of for years—get out of Jessie’s way and let her incredible voice fill up a three minute track.

Harris’ acknowledgement of Reyez’s natural performance power is also evident in today’s new music video for “Hard To Love.” Directed by Philip Harris, who was also behind the lens for Reyez’s latest solo single “Blue Ribbon” (watch here), Jessie wanders the streets of Paris and Amsterdam while performing the intimate lyrics. Sporting a Kiddo hat and wearing her trademark short shorts and oversized sweaters, Reyez is as captivating on camera as the stunning European scenery in her background. Prepare for some serious wanderlust.

Scottish producer Calvin Harris has already released the singles “Feels” with Katy Perry, Big Sean and Pharrell, as well as “Slide” featuring Frank Ocean and Migos and “Heatstroke” with Young Thug, Pharrell, and Ariana Grande and “Rollin” with Future and Khalid. Harris’ fifth studio album, which also features appearances from Nicki Minaj, John Legend, Travis Scott, Snoop Dogg, and Toronto artist and PartyNextDoor, dropped on June 30.

Funk Wav Bounce Vol. 1 is Harris’ first album since 2014’s Motion. Jessie Reyez’s debut EP Kiddo was released earlier this year and is available now.
