Jessie Reyez Gets Real With ‘F**k Being Friends’

Right from the start of her career, Canadian singer Jessie Reyez has carved out a unique path in the over-saturated pop world by releasing raw and honest songs about life, love, and sex, combined with her unmistakable combination of gritty and soothing vocals. With her latest track “F**k Being Friends,” Reyez is once again doubling down on herself, proving that she’s one of the most exciting singers and songwriters to debut in the past decade.

Calling out an ex who wants to be with her now that she’s famous, Reyez’s “F**k Being Friends” is a song that anyone who has even been strung along in a relationship will gravitate towards. Questioning her lover’s intentions, Reyez sings about being with someone who isn’t scare to be intimate, but terrified of intimacy.

“F**k Being Friends” is the fourth single from Reyez’s upcoming Being Human In Public EP, which features songs performed in English and Spanish. The latest track follows Reyez’s previously released singles “Apple Juice,” “Sola” and “Bodycount,” which she later remixed and re-released with Kehlani and Normani.

Announcing Being Human In Public on her Instagram account on August 22, Reyez revealed her plans to release all seven tracks before dropping the EP in full. The JUNO Award-winning artist is also hitting the road with her new songs, kicking off her Being Human on Tour on October 11 in Edmonton, Alberta. Reyez has six Canadian dates in total, wrapping up the tour in her hometown of Toronto on December 3.

Not only is the fall gearing up to be huge for Reyez thanks to her upcoming EP and tour, she’s already had a huge September thanks to a guest spot on two songs from Eminem’s latest album Kamikaze. Surprising fans with his ninth studio album on August 31, Kamikaze is sitting at No.1  on the Billboard 200 chart. For her part, Reyez lends her vocals to two standout songs on Kamikaze, including “Nice Guy” and “Good Guy.”
