It’s been three years since Jimmy Eat World released their eighth studio album, Damages, and now the emo-pop pioneers are back with a new hard-hitting single.
“Get Right” premiered yesterday on the BBC, but the band has declined giving away any concrete details about their new music, including the title of their upcoming disc. What we do know after a few listens is that the Arizona band is back with a vengeance, giving listeners a heavy rock track that shows a different side to the music veterans.

During their interview with the BBC, members of the band did reveal that recording for the new album started in November of 2015 and wrapped up this past spring in Los Angeles. The band had taken a full year apart before hitting the studio together and have a few small shows scheduled for the U.K. in September to get back into the groove of touring.
Thanks to Taylor Swift’s “Getting Ready” video for Apple Music, which shows the superstar dancing like no one is watching to the band’s 2001 hit, “The Middle,” Jimmy Eat World have enjoyed a resurgence in popularity during their time off. The viral video has also helped introduce the band to a new generation of listeners who may not have even been born when Bleed America was released in 2001. Now we feel old.

With a recent return to the charts thanks to new music from bands that defined the late 1990s and early 2000s, including Good Charlotte, Green Day and Blink 182, now is the best time for a new album from the rockers.
Jimmy Eat World’s ninth studio album is reportedly set to drop on October 21. Check out the lyric video for “Get Right” below.
