If you’re among the mass of people who wondered where JoJo went after her hit single Leave (Get Out) in 2004, don’t worry—you’re not alone. We caught up with the now 25-year-old songstress to talk new music and find out why we haven’t heard from her in years.
“I’ve spent the past few years fighting to gain control of my voice that comes out of my own body,” JoJo said. She was locked into a contract at the age of 12, but when the recording company went under, they still wouldn’t let her go. As a result, she wasn’t legally able to put out new music. She released a few mixtapes here and there, until a lawyer was able to help her out. She celebrated her new found freedom with three singles, or a Tringle, and is now producing music with a new label.
In the midst of her I Am JoJo tour, Much’s own Tyrone Edwards got a chance to sit down with her and talk about the ordeal, her new direction and even got to hear opinion on Donald Trump. Watch the full interview below!
And if you’re still hungry for more JoJo, get to know her even more in our latest Girl Gush session with her! Find out her thoughts on Adele, east coast versus west coast, her favourite karaoke song. Check it out!
