Julia Michaels And Trippie Redd Steam Up The Screen In ‘Jump’ Video

Is there anything Julia Michaels can’t do? The accomplished songwriter has already proven to be one of the biggest MVPs to have in the recording studio, thanks to her work with everyone from Selena Gomez to Justin Bieber and Nick Jonas to Gwen Stefani. Now in her role as a solo artist, the musician can switch from one genre to the next as easily as changing the dial on a radio station.

In the past two weeks alone, Michaels dropped a new pop and R&B infused video for her single “Jump” with rapper Trippie Redd, performed a beautiful ballad “Like To Be You” with Shawn Mendes, and released a music video for “Coming Home” with country singer Keith Urban. So yeah, if it has a beat, Julia Michaels can master it.

With her latest video for “Jump,” Michaels and Trippie Redd keep things simple, letting the sultry song speak for itself. Performing in a blue and purple haze on top of a car and in a parking lot, the pair put their performance abilities in the forefront, showing off an undeniable chemistry that’s perfect for a song about jumping into love.

Michaels wrote “Jump” after experiencing her own heartbreak, telling Billboard “I wrote ‘Jump’ about wanting to be in love with somebody after getting your heart just completely pummelled and that’s so hard for people sometimes, especially for me, so I wanted to write about it and put it out in the universe.” The universe welcomes you, JM.

Earlier this week, Michaels performed with Shawn Michaels during the Canadian pop singers’ week-long residency on The Late Late Show With James Corden. The pair performed their quietly stunning duet “Like To Be You” from Mendes’ recent self-titled third studio album.

The performance was the highlight in a week of hilarious skits and musical numbers from Mendes, which also included the singer’s first time in the front seat for Carpool Karaoke.
