Rapper Post Malone hit the road with Justin Bieber on his Purpose World Tour earlier this year—and it was only a matter of time before they hit the studio together as well.
Today, the unlikely duo, who made headlines over this photo of Malone with Bieber in a chokehold, released their joint effort, “Deja Vu.”
The song opens up with a catchy background beat, similar to the instantly recognizable cha-cha from Drake’s “Hotline Bling. ” Malone’s hazy vocals carry out the first verse before Justin comes in with the repeated, catchy hook, “Tell me is that deja vu? / Cause you want me and I want you.” The soft but grungy R&B tone in both their voices paired well together, making a for a smooth jam perfect for those late summer nights.
The track arrives on the same day as the release of Malone’s debut album, Stoney, which was delayed from its initial August 28 date. Last week, Malone took to Instagram to express his apologies for not having his album ready. “I’m disappointed in myself and my whole team,” his note read. “I couldn’t deliver on my word. There’s no excuse. I needed everything to be perfect for y’all and I f–ked up somewhere along the way.”
Justin has also kept himself busy this summer, making appearances on Chance The Rapper’s “Juke Jam” and most recently, on Major Lazer’s “Cold Water.”
