Here’s What We Can Expect From Justin Timberlake’s ‘Man Of The Woods’ Album

Justin Timberlake, Man Of The Woods

When we think of Justin Timberlake, man of the woods isn’t the first image that comes to mind. Man of the boy bands. Man of the Mouseketeers. Man of bringing sexy back. Man who is Jimmy Fallon’s bestie. But now, Timberlake is showing a different side of himself, and in 2018, that side is outside.

On Tuesday, Timberlake announced his fifth studio album, Man of the Woods, set to arrive on February 2, only two days before he returns to the Halftime Show at the Super Bowl. The new album marks Timberlake’s first in five years since releasing his double disc The 20/20 Experience in 2013.

Along with announcing the new album title and release date, Timberlake also revealed that the record’s first single will drop this Friday. But that’s not all. There’s also a really, really dramatic trailer. It appears Timberlake is still gunning for that EGOT.

In the trailer for Man of the Woods, Timberlake seemingly takes inspiration from perfume ads as he runs, stands and emotes his way through the wilderness.

Appearing with both his son Silas and wife, actor Jessica Biel, Timberlake pays homage to his roots in the Tennessee wilderness (we guess?) as he moves through the various emotions listeners will surely feel when listening to Man of the Woods.

Starting the trailer with a voice over, Timberlake says “This album is really inspired by my son, my wife, my family, but more so than any other album I’ve ever written, where I’m from – it’s personal.”

Just as a quick recap, in the past Timberlake has written about his grandparents (“Mirrors”), his romantic relationships (“Cry Me A River”) and McDonalds (“I’m Lovin It). So, we know he can do personal, but now things are really getting…perrrrrsonal.

JT’s longtime collaborator Pharrell also appears in the trailer, with the N.E.R.D. frontman working as the album’s producer. But what else do we know about Man of the Woods?

Timbaland will also likely produce

In an Instagram picture shared in 2017, Pharrell, JT and Timbaland were in the studio together, meaning the dream team is likely going to appear together on Man of the Woods.

We might hear a little big country

Considering the title and the setting of the album’s trailer, Man of the Woods could include JT’s first foray into the country and folk genre.

There will still be pop hits

Although its been five years since Timberlake’s last full length album, it feels like its only been five seconds since “Can’t Stop The Feeling” from the Trolls film was released. In fact, it was only 2016, but that song just wouldn’t quit.

We may hear from baby Silas

Timberlake named his son as the biggest inspiration for his upcoming album, so don’t be surprised to hear little Silas Timberlake on the record. We’re thinking something like Blake Lively and Ryan Reynold’s daughter James lending her vocals to Taylor Swift’s 2017 track “Gorgeous.”

We may finally hear a woke Justin Timberlake

In 2013, Justin Timberlake released the single “Take Back The Night” and for some reason didn’t bother to Google the title. If he had, he would have found that that the term had been in use by a campus wide sexual assault awareness foundation since the 1970s. It was not a good look for the pop star and one he hopefully won’t repeat in Man of the Woods. Lately, Timberlake has been posting messages of support and solidarity for women’s rights on his social media pages, so let’s hope the new album shows some growth and some fact checking.
