Kelly Clarkson Releases Her Best Video In Years With ‘Love So Soft’

In 2002, Kelly Clarkson rocketed to superstardom by becoming the first winner of American Idol. Now 15 years later, Clarkson is preparing to release her seventh studio album Meaning of Life in October and has just dropped her first single, complete with a brand new video. Both are definitely worthy of being idolized.

With “Love So Soft,” Clarkson has her latest pop hit on her hands following in the footsteps of previous singles like “Since You’ve Been Gone,” “Stronger” and “Breakaway.” Clarkson has always delivered impressive music videos, but with “Love So Soft,” Clarkson takes her rightful place among pop’s biggest names in her heavily stylized and special effects-loving visuals. When you’re Beyoncé, Taylor, Britney, Rihanna, or Kelly, sometimes you don’t need a plot in your music video. You just need super fierce outfits on an incredible woman with stuff exploding around her.

Clarkson is joined by her backup singers in and a group of dancers in a number of shots, with everyone involved giving a performance worthy of an invite to the Met Gala.

First, there was the tribute to Jackie O, complete with trademark sunglasses and white driving gloves.

How could we miss the yellow, Beauty and the Beast-inspired ball gown that was seemingly made of birds (and was possibly requested by her daughter)?

Then there was the high-neck Gothic down paired with red eye shadow and a sleek straight hair do.

Multiple Kellys in straight-brimmed white hats? Fosse baby!

Kelly, you look great in blue. Especially when stuff is exploding around you. Stay safe, stay fierce.

What do you match purple lipstick and a statement necklace with? More Kelly Clarkson. The answer is always more Kelly Clarkson.

In addition to “Love So Soft,” Clarkson also surprised fans with a second new single. “Move You” is a bluesy, guitar-driven ballad that shows off yet another side of Clarkson’s incredible voice.

Kelly Clarkson’s Meaning of Life is due out October 27.
