Kesha Reveals What Kind Of Friend Taylor Swift Is

It doesn’t come as a surprise to anyone that Taylor Swift is a fan of her friends. The singer has been heralded as such by her many famous ‘squad members,’ or as she calls them, friends. Selena Gomez, Lena Dunham, and Gigi Hadid are just some of the A-list pals that have talked about the power of having a supportive friend like Swift.

Back in 2016, it looked like Taylor Swift had struck up a friendship, or at least an admiration for fellow singer Kesha. Swift generously donated $250,000 to Kesha’s legal battle against her former producer Dr. Luke, with Kesha’s mother Pebe Serbert thanking Swift publicly on Twitter for her huge financial donation.

But it looks like the friendship didn’t stop there. While Swift is often photographed in public with members of her famous inner circle, we’ve never actually seen Taylor and Kesha hang out together. But that doesn’t mean they’re not close friends.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone magazine, this month’s cover story is dedicated to Kesha. Among the many topics she covers, including battling an eating disorder and making her new album Rainbow, Kesha also talks about what it’s really like to be friends with Taylor Swift, something we didn’t know the two considered each other.

Swift, Kesha says, “…is a fucking sweetheart. Very, very sweet, very, very genuine, extremely generous, picks up the phone every time I call her. My mom doesn’t even always pick up the phone!”

As for questions surrounding Swift’s beef with popstar Katy Perry, Kesha either hasn’t heard about the world’s most famous feud or knows that being a good friend sometimes means staying quiet and not making a bad situation worse. “I’m not really up on my pop culture,” says Kesha. “Should I know something about it? I live in my record player.”

We admire that the pair keep their friendship under wraps. Both women have lived with the ups and downs of being in the public eye and know how difficult it is to protect certain aspects of your personal life, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t willing to support one another in public.

Following Taylor Swift’s 2017 court battle against a radio DJ who groped her, Kesha tweeted her support towards her friend.

We love seeing these two fierce women help hold one another up in an industry that loves to see people tear each other down.
