Kings of Leon have become a fairly divisive rock band in the latter part of their 17-year career. In discussing the six, soon to be seven, albums put out by the Followill boys, you’re just as likely to come across those who eat up the accessible, stadium-fit rock we’ve been fed on their last few albums as you are those who long for the flared jeans, shaggy mops and jangly Southern rock of the band’s early days.
KOL music that falls somewhere in the middle is probably the safest bet at this point—which is why today’s new song “Around the World” is a guaranteed crowd-pleaser. The third single off their forthcoming LP WALLS, “Around the World” blends the lively guitar from old school KOL albums like 2004’s Aha Shake Heartbreak with the synth and echoey chords we’ve grown more accustomed to on records like Come Around Sundown and Mechanical Bull.
Check out the first single off WALLS here or today’s new track below, and look out for the new album on October 14 via RCA Records.
