Lana Del Rey is currently on the Australian leg of her LA to the Moon world tour, but that doesn’t mean she isn’t thinking about new music.
Del Rey has shared a preview of a new song called “Happiness is a Butterfly” on social media. The 30-second clip plays to Del Rey’s romantic pop, dreamlike vibe. The clip is laden with cool piano keys that reminisce of her classic melancholy yet sultry music aesthetic. Check out the preview below.
The song starts off, “Happiness is a butterfly / Try to catch it like every night.” According to Pitchfork, Del Rey seems to be referencing Lil Uzi Vert’s hit “XO TOUR Llif3” in the teaser’s last line: “I hum it on the phone like every night / And sing it for my babies on the tourlyfe.”
But this isn’t Del Rey’s first time referencing butterflies. The sultry songstress first shouted them out earlier last month with an inspirational quote via Twitter.
Back in February, Del Rey teased that she was collaborating with Bleachers’ frontman Jack Antonoff and Marina and the Diamonds (aka Marina Diamandis), who she interviewed for L’Officiel magazine. Del Rey released her fifth studio album Lust for Life last summer, which saw her take a break from her typical track listing containing only her vocals to feature guest appearances from The Weeknd, Stevie Nicks, Sean Lennon, A$AP Rocky, and Playboi Carti.
Although there’s hasn’t been any announcement about a possible new album, this teaser has left Lana fans expecting new tracks from the singer in the very near future.
