Pick up lines may sound cheesy in English, but here’s a pro tip for you: try hitting on someone in Icelandic. When our very own Liz sat down with indie folk rock band Of Monsters And Men, she asked for some pointers and members Nanna Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir, Ragnar þórhallsson and Arnar Rósenkranz Hilmarsson did not disappoint.
As you can see in the video below, þórhallsson says a phrase in which Bryndís Hilmarsdóttir translates as: “I saw you in a distance and you look like a flower in a vase…and this is my friend.”
“It works every time,” þórhallsson assures.
Watch the rest of the interview as the band discuss their love of festivals (but fear of interacting with other acts there) as well as a recent flood they had that threatened to destroy their gear.
Of Monsters And Men’s new album Beneath the Skin is out now, catch them in a city near you this summer!
