Lights Shows How She Created Her Comic Series In New ‘Skydiving’ Video

We’ve always known that Canadian singer Lights is incredibly talented, but this year, the popstar is outdoing even herself. Combining her of love of music and comics, Lights is releasing not only a new album, but also her first comic series, with the two projects complementing one another.

Lights has just released her latest music video for the romantic and joyful “Skydiving,” with the video giving fans a sneak peek at her new comic series and the process behind its creation. Spending much of the video sitting at her desk illustrating the comic, Lights shows how she created the panels for her apocalyptic love story.

“Skydiving” follows “Giants,” the lead single from Light’s upcoming fourth studio album Skin & Earth, which is also the title of a comic series Lights has created. Written and illustrated in full by the multi-talented Lights, new issues will continue to arrive throughout the year in tandem with new music.

The comic series follows En, a woman written as a reflection of Lights, who we assume is the hooded woman in the new music video for “Giants.” The comic series for Skin & Earth is described as the “story of a girl looking for hope in a hopeless world. Caught between romance and cults, gods and mortals, and just trying to find a good borscht, Enaia Jin is lead down a dark path by new lovers that reveal a twisted fantasy world and her own true nature. Set in a post-apocalyptic future where corporations rule, this adventurous tale of loneliness, deceit and self-discovery begins here!”
