Linkin Park have teamed up with singer Kiiara for their new single “Heavy” and the collaboration has sparked one of the band’s most emotional singles to date.
The band dropped the video for “Heavy” today, featuring Kiiara and lead singer Chester Bennington as two people in attendance at a recovery meeting. As their alter egos, Bennington literally fights with himself throughout the video, while Kiiara spends half of the video at home trying to push herself to go to the meeting.
The raw and gritty video is a perfect match for the song, showing the constant demand addiction has on the attention and emotions of those afflicted with the disease.
“Heavy” is part of Linkin Park’s upcoming seventh studio album One More Light, which marks the band’s first album since 2014’s The Hunting Party.
Singer Kiiara made headlines in 2015 with her infectious single “Gold.” The singer’s collaboration with Linkin Park was in part thanks to BBC Radio 1 host Zane Lowe. While interviewing Kiiara in 2016, Lowe asked the singer to name some of her favourite musicians and Linkin Park topped the list. Lowe got in contact with the band and sent them Kiiara’s music, with Linkin Park then inviting the singer to perform on “Heavy.”
One More Light is set to be released on May 19.
