We’re only a few days away from the January 13 release of the new album I See You from The xx and have just been gifted a new piece of music. The new album is the first since the trio’s critically and commercially successful sophomore album Coexist, with the first single arriving this past November.
The new album was recorded in the US and the UK between March 2014 and August 2016, with the first single “On Hold” sampling Hall & Oates’ 1981 hit, “I Can’t Go For That.” The band released a video for the track, shot in the small, artist town of Marfa, Texas, where part of their third studio album was recorded.
Now The xx have released the second piece of new music from I See You with the beautifully somber “Say Something Loving.”
The trio celebrated their new song and the new year by posting a video shot in 2016 during a trip to Japan. The xx filmed a video of themselves performing “Say Something Loving” in a karaoke bar, uploading the video to Facebook and wishing their fans a happy 2017.
The xx’s third album I See You is set to be released January 13.
