British trio London Grammar are making their return to music in 2017, having just released their stunning new single “Rooting For You.”
The soaring ballad, which puts singer Hanna Reid’s rich vocals front and center, is the first new piece of music since the band dropped their debut album If You Wait back in 2013. The album scored the band critical and commercial success both in the UK and the US, winning an Ivor Novello Award for their single “Strong” and performing on Late Night With Jimmy Fallon.
Now it looks like we’re one step closer to a new album from London Grammar, with the single “Rooting For You” acting as a strong album opener.
London Grammar have released a video for the ballad, with Reid commanding the first half of the song and video solo, giving an a capella performance and showing off her Florence Welch-like vocals. Once the instruments come in, the lights in the video go up, revealing an orchestra behind Reid.
In addition to the video, London Grammar have also released a second live version of “Rooting For You” on Spotify.
The band is set to perform at the Flow Festival in Finland alongside Lana Del Rey, The xx, Aphex Twin and more, giving us another reason to believe a full-length album is arriving soon.
