Louis Tomlinson may be taking a break from his boy band One Direction, but that doesn’t mean the British singer is turning his back on collaborations. In late 2016, Tomlinson teamed up with DJ and producer Steve Aoki to release his first single “Just Hold On,” a high-energy EDM-fused pop track.
The two made their debut performance of the single on the X Factor in December, just days after the tragic passing of Tomlinson’s mother. Now the two are again promoting the single, this time with a brand new music video.
“Just Hold On” opens with a man and a woman in their early 20’s meeting for the first time at a bus stop at 3 am in London. They decide to skip the bus and take a walk together, quickly finding themselves transported to different countries around the world.
Tomlinson doesn’t appear in the video, but Aoki pops up in a few shots when the couple finds themselves in the middle of one of the biggest clubs in Las Vegas. Aoki is manning the turn tables and keeping the party going in Sin City, a typical Wednesday night for the musician.
Tomlinson is the latest member of One Direction to release solo material, following Zayn Malik’s 2016 debut album Mind of Mine and Niall Horan’s 2016 single, “This Town.” Liam Payne is expected to release new music in 2017, while Harry Styles spent much of 2016 year filming Christopher Nolan’s Dunkirk, which the first trailer debuting in December. There have been rumblings of Styles working on his first solo album as well, so we’re hopefully going to get quite a bit new music from all the men of One Direction in 2017.
