Macklemore & Ryan Lewis To Perform For The First Time At The iHeartRadio MMVAs!

For the first time ever, hip-hop duo Macklemore & Ryan Lewis will be attending and performing at the MMVAs!

The Seattle-based group became an overnight success with the release of their 2012 Grammy-winning debut album The Heist, which included the singles Thrift Shop, Can’t Hold Us and Same Love.

In February, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis released their second studio album, This Unruly Mess I’ve Made. The new disc includes the catchy hit single Downtown, which features Eric Nally and hip hop royalty Melle Mel, Kool Moe Dee, and Grandmaster Caz.

Most recently, Macklemore & Ryan Lewis dropped the gritty and somber video for their emotional track Kevin, featuring Leon Bridges. In Kevin, Macklemore raps about his struggle with substance abuse and honours a friend he lost to a drug overdose. The song also has a political angle, with Macklemore taking aim at the American medical field and the epidemic of overprescribing medications.

The duo have spent much of the spring touring Europe and will be returning to North America for a number of tour dates in May and June before heading back overseas this summer.

In addition to Macklemore & Ryan Lewis, Alessia Cara and Nick Jonas and have also been announced as performers for the 2016 MMVAs.

Stay tuned to for all your MMVA news, including performer and presenter announcements and nominations. Watch the 2016 MMVAs on Sunday, June 19.
