Major Lazer and their famous friends have scored huge hits with “Lean On” and “Cold Water,” and it looks like the trio are out to hit number one with the help of a famous twosome once more.
Diplo, Jillionaire and Walshy Fire confirmed at the American Music Awards in 2016 that they would be releasing a collaboration with Minaj and PartyNextDoor, but didn’t specify a date. Minaj performed “Side To Side” with Ariana Grande that same night, while PartyNextDoor’s label president Drake took home four of his 11 nominations.
Now Major Lazer have dropped their dance hall track “Run Up,” with PND taking on the bulk of the vocals. The club banger features a spitfire verse from Minaj, who raps about pop culture fresher than ever on the new single. Of course, the line that has us most excited is, “’bout to drop an album, this is my fourth.” Yassss Nicki!
“Run Up” marks the second time Minaj and Diplo have hit the studio together. The two previously worked together in 2015 on Madonna’s “Bitch I’m Madonna.”
The new single is set to be part of Major Lazer’s upcoming fourth studio album Music Is The Lesson, which will feature the trio’s “Lean On” and “Cold Water” collaborator MØ. Usher, Sia, and country artist Sam Hunt are all rumoured to be involved with the album as well.
Major Lazer’s Music Is The Lesson will arrive sometime in 2017, but for now you can turn up the volume for their lead single “Run Up.”
