Mary J. Blige Gets Real In New ICONS Documentary

Mon, February, 5 by Jessica Dixon

To be the Queen of Hip-Hop Soul, first you have to struggle through the ranks—that’s exactly what hip hop and R&B artist Mary J. Blige has done in the latest Much ICONS mini documentary.

Starting from the humble beginnings of Bronx, NY, Blige has struggled through the years with her self-image and confidence; this episode of ICONS focuses on Blige’s time in the spotlight through the singer’s own words.

Bilge started her career as a backup singer, adding her vocals to other works until 1992 (when her first solo album What’s the 411? was released). The singer’s amazing life is highlighted through some of her most personal interviews. This nine-time Grammy-winning artist has finally gotten the attention she deserves.
