Missy Elliott Releases Eccentric New Video For ‘I’m Better’

It’s time to get your freak on—Missy Elliott is back.

Hip hop legend Missy Elliott has returned to the music scene with her new song “I’m Better” and an accompanying music video.

Missy dropped the auto tune-heavy track, which features rapper Lamb, overnight with a teaser clip on her Twitter. The clip also teased her upcoming documentary about her career and impact in the music industry.

Directed by Missy and Dave Meyers (who also worked on Katy Perry’s “Firework” and P!nk’s “Stupid Girls”) the bass-heavy jam’s video is fully equipped with lasers, floodlights, crazy angles and wild choreography by Missy’s regular choreographer, Sean Bankhead. The video builds on her future-forward, off-kilter style, but remains true to her classic Hype Williams-era hip hop video aesthetic. Check it out below.

The five-time Grammy Award winner’s last proper studio album, The Cookbook, was released back in 2005 and reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200. She then returned after years away with “WTF (Where They From)” featuring Pharrell back in 2015 and has since made appearances on songs with A$AP Ferg and Fall Out Boy.

The schedule for Missy’s long anticipated album has yet to be revealed, but her documentary is set to be released later this year.
