Much has been bringing you the best coverage of music and pop culture since 1984. In the years since our launch, technology has changed and we have evolved to give our loyal audience (aka YOU good lookin’!), the programming they want to see. It’s no secret that Much has gone through some big changes lately. This summer we were sad to say goodbye to a number of our amazing and talented co-workers who helped to make Much not only an incredible TV station, but also an amazing place to work.
It’s been a tough year across all Canadian media, and we’re not immune.
But the recent restructuring at Much was about moving the channel forward. The times they are a changing, and for any business to survive three decades, change must be celebrated as an opportunity to grow, not feared in hopes of not rocking the boat.
We know Much doesn’t look the same as it did 5, 10, 15, or 25 years ago. But really, none of us look the same as we did when we were teens, so why would Much?
We’ve added some of the funniest shows on TV to our line-up, including Nathan For You, Broad City, Workaholics, The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon, and many more. Of course we still love music and play tons of music videos – we haven’t changed that. You can see the biggest artists in the world on Much, as well as artists no one has heard of (yet), but we think you’ll love. We strive to bring these artists That Much Closer to you every day. Our VJs continue to connect with you on-air and online and the MMVAs still rocks you every single June.
You may have heard that Much is operating on a skeleton staff. That Much is going out of business. This couldn’t be further from the truth. We have hundreds of employees working on the Much brand, producing amazing content every day. We’re resourceful and creative and we aren’t going anywhere. We promise to be the TV equivalent of a bad stink you can’t get rid of, but you know, in a good way.
The saying goes ‘a change is as good as a rest’ and we aren’t planning to rest anytime soon. The team here is constantly working on improving our station and site to give you the best content online and on your TV.
One of the reasons Much has survived in such a fickle and unforgiving TV and digital landscape is because we have always put you, our amazing viewers, first. You, the viewer, in turn support us in so many ways. You make our shows trend worldwide on Twitter. You enter competitions to become the next Much VJ. You filled our parking lot to the brim last week to see 5 Seconds of Summer. To summarize, we think you are the shit.
We’re approaching our 30th Anniversary at Much and we know, we know, 30 is the new 20, so we’re pretty excited about this milestone. To celebrate three decades of ground-breaking, iconic, and sometimes straight-up insane moments (oh, we’ve had our moments) we’ll be taking a look back at some of the most memorable interviews, performances, specials and more. We’ll be compiling the best of the best of the past 30 years, as well as a look towards all the amazing things to come in the future of Much.
