From the incredible mind of Roald Dahl, the man who brought us James and the Giant Peach and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory comes The BFG, the latest adaptation from the famed children’s author.
To help make the move from page to screen is director Steven Spielberg, who has brought the children’s classic about a Big Friendly Giant to the big friendly screen.
Academy Award nominee Mark Rylance plays The BFG, with comedians Bill Hader and Jemaine Clement voicing The Bloodbottler and The Fleshlumpeater (aka the scary dudes) in this combination live-action and animated flick.
Newcomer Ruby Barnhill plays 10-year-old Sophie, a young English girl who finds herself inside in the world of Giant Country. Barnill was on hand, along with her co-star Mark Rylance and director Steven Spielberg, for the film’s screening at the Cannes Film Festival this past weekend.
Today’s new trailer shows off the incredible world of Giant Country and Dream Country, where most giants are not as friendly as The BFG. It’s not just a catchy name. The new Disney film also stars Rebecca Hall and Penelope Wilton as The Queen.
The BFG stomps into theatres on July 1, 2016.
