Remix Your Wednesday With These Bold New Tracks From Robyn, Kanye, Tyler, The Creator And More

Nothing beats the hump day blues like a good remix, one that can completely transform a song, making it unrecognizable from the original. Robyn, who’s in the midst of releasing nine new remixes, said: “Remixes make me listen to a song in a different way; they stretch you out as a listener and leave space for other things that a pop song usually doesn’t.” Take a new perspective on your Wednesday and start your countdown to the long weekend with these hot new tracks.

Mike Posner, “Be As You Are”

Hot off the success of “I Took A Pill In Ibiza,” Mike Posner returns with a new remix by JordanXL and video for “Be As You Are.” Posner said the new single is “among the most honest songs I have written. I was just trying to tell the truth.” Listen to the mellow remix below.

Robyn, “Don’t F**king Tell Me What To Do”

After Robyn announced her festival appearances this summer, she also shared that she would be premiering nine remixed tracks off her upcoming project, RMX/RBN. She invited nine artists to remix tracks from different points in her career, and shared the first two last Friday. Check out The Mekanism’s remix below and watch out for new one remixes from the project every Friday.

AWAY, “Feels”

Mysterious L.A. producer AWAY tried his hand at remixing Kiiara’s “Feels.” The synth-heavy beat mixed with Kiiara’s airy vocals is a perfect recipe for feeling some type of way.

Tyler, The Creator, “Pillowtalk”

Like a bowl of cloves topped with whipped cream, you probably never thought of pairing Odd Future’s Tyler with One Direction’s Zayn—yet here we are. The eccentric rapper transforms Zayn’s lovesick anthem, putting the “fun” in “funky” as Tyler dances around his bedroom in an all-yellow outfit. Put this one on repeat.

Steve G. Lover III (feat. Childish Gambino), “No Hookahs”

Steve G. Lover III enlists the help of his brother, Donald Glover, on this remix of Tyga and Young Thugs “Hookah.” As the first taste of new music we’ve got from Childish Gambino this year, the song makes us even more bitter about his hiatus from hip hop. Listen to the song here.

Kanye West, “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. II”

If you’re uninterested in Ye’s other recent releases, then this hour-long version of “Father Stretch My Hands Pt. 1” might be for you. Created to accompany a fashion show, this remix drags out the originally-two-minutes-and-15-seconds track into a full hour. It played over fashion designer Virgil Abloh’s Paris Fashion Week show. Listen to a (relatively) shortened 40-minute version below.

KAMAU (feat. No Wyld, Lion Babe), “Jusfayu”

D.C. singer/songwriter recruits soul duo Lion Babe for the remix of his latest single, “Jusfayu.” The track will appear on his upcoming EP, A Gorgeous Fortune. KAMAU told Billboard that “Jusfayu” is about the process of self appreciation and cultivation. “Sometimes I fall short in habits of seeking that externally in others [and] in romance,” he said.
